Best Places to Stay Downtown
Finding a place to stay in Huntsville’s historic downtown can be tricky because there are no actual hotels or motels on the historic part of the Main Street.
Nowadays, it is possible to stay right in the heart of the action thanks to Vrbo connecting us to rental properties. There are apartments above most of the shops in the downtown, and now you can even stay in a few.
Let me tell you about my favourites, as well as a couple more conventional options, still in town but a little further from the main strip.

1. Main Suite’s Downtown
For travellers seeking a comfortable and pet-friendly option in the heart of Huntsville, this cozy Muskoka studio is a gem. Perfect for solo travellers or couples, this studio offers everything you need for a relaxing stay while being just steps away from the vibrant downtown area.
The studio has a warm, inviting decor with thoughtful touches that reflect the charm of Muskoka. It includes a fully equipped kitchen, a comfy seating area, and a plush Queen sized bed to unwind after a day of exploring. Large windows provide plenty of natural light, and the space feels open and airy, ideal for a quiet escape.
Situated right on the Main Street, within easy walking distance of the historic downtown shops, restaurants, and the Muskoka River, this property ensures you’re never far from the action.
Whether you’re planning a weekend retreat or a longer visit, this apartment in downtown Huntsville is a budget-friendly and convenient choice.

2. Downtown Apartment Loft
For a stylish and convenient stay, this modern downtown Huntsville loft is a fantastic choice. Located just off Main Street and Chaffey Street, this chic property offers a mix of comfort and sophistication, perfect for couples or small groups looking to be close to everything.
The Vrbo site says it sleeps four people but there only appears to be one King bed, so I wouldn’t count on it.
The loft features a sleek open-concept design with large windows that flood the space with natural light. You’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy living area, and two spacious bedrooms.
Note that this modern vacation rental requires a minimum 2 night stay and it is not pet-friendly. This downtown loft is a luxurious yet practical choice that immerses you in the heart of Huntsville.

3. Two bedroom, dog-friendly Huntsville rental
Tucked away on a peaceful dead-end street, this charming apartment rental offers a great way to experience Huntsville like a local. While it’s located just a short distance from Main Street, the quiet setting makes it feel like your own private retreat.
The apartment features two cozy bedrooms, making it ideal for small families or couples travelling together. A kitchenette with a stove and fridge provides all the essentials for preparing meals at home, adding to the convenience of your stay. Plus, if you’re travelling with a furry friend, you’ll be happy to know that one dog is welcome here!
With its perfect mix of comfort and location, this rental is a lovely choice for anyone wanting a relaxing stay close to all that Huntsville has to offer.

4. Rodeway Inn
The Rodeway Inn King William is my top pick for downtown Huntsville. Formerly the King William, it’s now the most updated motel in the area, with a clean, modern aesthetic and the top reviews for all the motels in Huntsville.

Located just a 9-minute walk to the iconic green bridge into downtown, it’s close to great breakfast spots and local favourites like Family Place Restaurant. While it doesn’t accept pets, it’s a fantastic choice for those seeking style and convenience at a cheaper price point.
If you’re after a prime location and modern comfort, the Rodeway Inn King William is hard to beat!

5. Best Western Plus – Huntsville
If you are looking for a more traditional stay at a nice hotel in Huntsville, my top recommendation is the Best Western Plus. It’s not in the historic downtown but it’s in the centre of our commercial area.

Located just off Highway 60, the Best Western Plus offers a convenient base for exploring Huntsville, with a grocery store, Walmart, and restaurants nearby. Its spacious rooms, decorated in soft, warm tones with dark wood accents, include all the essentials.
Having worked there as a housekeeper, I can vouch for the exceptional cleanliness and attention to detail, with regular deep-cleaning in every corner of the rooms. The management’s commitment to their staff creates a welcoming, friendly environment that shines through in the service.
With a delicious included breakfast, an indoor pool, gym, and free parking, this hotel stands out for its consistent quality. While not pet-friendly, some rooms do feature private Jacuzzi tubs, making it a top choice for comfort and value in Huntsville.
