Everything You Need for Your Trip
Here are my favourite travel resources that I use when travelling around Ontario (and abroad for that matter). Because I use these websites, services and products myself, I know that they are reliable and good quality – I would not recommend them to you otherwise!
Booking your flight to Ontario
WayAway – Great for finding the best flight deals all in one easy-to-use place. Be aware that the currency defaults to USD, so if that’s not your home currency, you’ll have to adjust.
Trip.com – Some of Trip.com’s flight deals show up on WayAway, so if you want to go straight to the source, check it out! It’s also a fantastic site to book anything you might need: hotels, cars, trains, tour and attraction tickets, eSIMs, and more.
Getting around once you’re here
DiscoverCars – it’s true, I haven’t had to book rental cars very often in my home province, but when an international friend comes to visit, or even when I travel abroad, I use DiscoverCars to find the best car rental deals. They have tons of amazing reviews and they partner with all the reputable car rental companies I know here in Ontario.
Lyft (instead of Uber) – I use Lyft a lot getting around Niagara Falls or Toronto and it is almost always cheaper than Uber.
Hotels & Accommodations
Booking.com – my go-to place to search for a place to stay. If you create an account and use it multiple times, you’ll level up and get discounts and room upgrades, which I love!
My favourite aspect of Booking.com is the search abilities; I can compare prices on a map, sort results to put the lowest priced place first, and filter to only see places with ratings of 4 stars or more show in results.
Vrbo.com – to rent entire vacation properties. I’ve found some beautiful cottage rentals here. Vrbo, similar to Airbnb but with lower fees, specializes in entire property rentals—perfect for families, couples, and groups seeking privacy and space.
Hostelworld.com – hostels are not as common in Ontario as they are in Europe, but we do have a bunch! If you’re looking for cheap, shared accommodation where you can meet fellow travellers and make new friends.
Tours & Attractions (the fun stuff!)
Get Your Guide – this is my favourite tour booking agency, I’ve used them many times in my own travels and as a tour guide in Niagara Falls, we got lots of guest through Get Your Guide.
Viator – another great option for booking tours. They have a ton of reviews for each tour and mostly carry the same tours as Get Your Guide.
Trip.com – you can buy tickets to some individual attractions online before you arrive, but if in doubt, go to the attraction’s official website.
